Każdy z nas pragnie, aby jego ogród był piękny i funkcjonalny za razem. Jednak każdy z nas jest inny i to co podoba się jednemu, nie koniecznie musi trafić w gusta innej osoby.

Urządzenie ogrodu nie należy do najłatwiejszych, często więc korzystamy z porad i usług specjalistów w tej dziedzinie. Kiedy rozpoczynamy pracę przy urządzaniu ogrodu, zmuszeni jesteśmy do podjęcia pewnych kluczowych decyzji. To co sprawia nam najwięcej kłopotów to wybór stylu w jakim ma być urządzony nasz wymarzony ogródek, dobór roślin jakimi go obsadzimy, oraz odpowiedni wybór architektury ogrodowej (altany, pergole, domki ogrodowe fontanny itp.)

Pierwszym krokiem jest projektowanie ogrodu. Musimy przemyśleć nasze preferencje dotyczące pewnych kwestii. Styl w ogrodzie zależny jest od tego czy podobają nam się proporcje czy wolimy chaos, czy chcemy aby znajdowały się w nim elementy wodne czy też nasze oczy cieszyć będzie widok skalniaków. Najczęściej spotykane style ogrodów to ogrody: angielskie, japońskie i francuskie. Spotykamy także styl kolonialny, nowoczesny, wiejski, czy barokowy.

Cecha charakterystyczną ogrodów angielskich jest ich romantyczny nastrój. Jest to ogród przepełniony kwiatami. Rośliną, która powinna dominować w ogrodzie w stylu angielskim jest róża. Charakterystyczna jest także rozległa przestrzeń pełna różnych tajemniczych zakątków. Romantyzm ujawnia się w dość swobodnym doborze roślin. Ważną funkcję pełni tutaj architektura ogrodowa oraz pnące się na pergolach i altanach róże.

Kolejnym stylem na jaki warto zwrócić uwagę są ogrody japońskie. Piękno orientalnych ogrodów polega przede wszystkim na tym, iż naśladują one przyrodę, lecz nie starają się jej podbijać. Stylizacja ta musi zostać wykonana w sposób niezwykle staranny tak aby nie pozostawiać w nich zbyt wielu śladów działalności człowieka. Cechują się one starannym doborem roślinności i elementów ogrodowej architektury.

Ogród francuski jest przeważnie inspirowany ogrodami wersalskimi. Ogrody francuskie zawsze tworzone są wg ściśle nakreślonego planu. Są pedantycznie równe, symetryczne, oraz dokładnie przycięte. W ogrodach reprezentujących styl francuski nie ma miejsca na przypadkowość, nieład czy nieokiełznaną naturę. Drzewa i krzewy przycinane mogą być na kształt kuli, stożka lub prostopadłościanu. Zawsze podporządkowywane są woli człowieka. Ogród francuski to ogród , w którym nawet natura musi się dopasować do projektu wykonanego przez człowieka.

Kolejnym stylem, który warto przy tej okazji wymienić jest styl barokowy. Szczególnie polecany tym, którzy cenią sobie uporządkowaną przestrzeń. Jest ona tutaj zdominowana przez poprzycinane w geometryczne bryły krzewy zimozielone.

Styl kolonialny – jest swojski i uporządkowany, dominują w nim drewniane tarasy oraz rzeźby z kamienia lub drewna. Częstym materiałem wykorzystywanym tutaj jest cegła. Choć rośliny rosną tu swobodnie linie często wyznaczają żywopłoty.
